About the Wool
Seagull - Lightweight Wool
Our premium yarn from South American crossbred sheep, produced exclusively for Dale of Norway. This light and soft yarn is perfect for mid-layer garments requiring a lighter and softer feel. To make it machine washable it undergoes a revolutionary new wool treatment using natural non-toxic salts. Naturally, our wool is mulesing-free. Garments knitted with Seagull can be machine washed using wool-cycle. (Fiber diameter: 27 micron)
History
The Setesdal design is known as Norway’s most iconic pattern design and has been knitted for generations. The small v-shaped dots are known as the lice pattern, while the crosses were believed to protect from evil spirits.
Setesdal (Farm Valley in English) is a valley and district in southern Norway, known for its rich farming heritage. Valløy is a peninsula in the Oslo fjord.
